Rehabilitated Manatee Release

At this event, a manatee was released back into a river after spending a year in a rehabilitation facility.  A Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) tracker was attached to its fin and its progress was followed closely for the next year.

Wreathes Across America

Wreaths Across America (WAA) is a national nonprofit organization founded in 2007 designed to continue and expand the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.  This ceremony was started in 1992 by Morrill Worcester when his wreath company donated 5,000 wreaths to be placed on the headstones of Soldiers.  The Navy Wives Clubs of America hosts this annual event and through donations, and the help of volunteers, place more and more wreaths every year honoring those who have served their country with honor.

Lake Stevens Chamber of Commerce Annual Gala

Carleton Farms, Lake Stevens, Washington - December 4, 2015

 

This was a fundraising  event for the Lake Stevens Chamber of Commerce where they recognized their 2015 award winners for: Chamber Business of the Year, Chamber Member of the Year, Hall of Fame recipient, Citizen of the year and Jr. Citizen of the Year. Funds raised went toward a school program called "The Leader in Me."  At the time, the program was utilized by two local schools (Mt. Pilchuck Elementary and Highland Elementary) and was aimed at nurturing and developing 21st century leadership skills and life skills in an environment promoting student empowerment.

Fifth Annual Future of Flight Gala Auction

Future of Flight Museum, Everett, Washington - October 24, 2015

 

This was the fifth annual gala auction for the Institute of Flight Foundation with the purpose of raising funds for their organization, with the intention at turning young children on to the idea of aeronautics and engineering.  The theme for this event was, given that it fell on the weekend following Back to the Future Day (October 21, 2015), centered around the film itself.  Festivities included a cover band playing hits from the film as well as volunteers dressed up as the popular characters Doctor Emmit Brown and Marty McFly as they appeared in the first two films as well as a chance for patrons to have their photo taken in a DeLorean that was on loan for the event.  The auction itself, run by former host of Evening Magazine John Curley, was a ton of fun for everybody involved and raised a substantial amount for the cause.

Brew Fest

Carleton Farms, Lake Stevens, Washington - September 26 & 27, 2015

 

This was an annual event to benefit the Lake Stevens Food Bank, located in the Ebenezer Lutheran Church where it operated for the last 40+ years.  In this inaugural event, guests were provided samples of artisan beer, which was available for purchase in bottles on the way out.  Although this was a 21 and up event, Carleton Farms has activities for children, including: play areas, a corn maze, a pumpkin canon, petting zoo, and much more. 

Ground Breaking Ceremony

Everett Community College, Washington - September 22, 2015

 

This ceremony marked the official start of the construction of a new building for Washington State University's, North Puget Sound, Everett campus.  WSU participates alongside other four-year universities like the University of Washington, Eastern & Western Washington Universities, among others.  This ceremony also marked the eventual arrival of new baccalaureate programs after construction was completed. 

Salmon For Soldiers

Everett Marina, Washington - August 29, 2015

 

This was the third annual event to honor wounded veterans.  Veterans team up with volunteers and boat captains (many of whom are veterans themselves) to spend the day fishing out of Everett, Washington.   Afterward, all pre-registered participants are invited to a barbecue and raffle drawings.  Salmon for Soldiers is a non-profit organization and run entirely by volunteers with a collection of sponsors to off-set operating costs.  Check out the link below to learn more about the event and sponsors supporting the event.

 

Although the weather on this year was severe enough to cancel the fishing portion of the event, spirits were still high as all attendees took part in the remaining festivities, which were a big hit.
